What's TOSEL?

TOSEL(Test of Skills in the English Language) was developed to meet the demand for a more effective assessment of English as a foreign language for learners from specific cultural settings.

TOSEL evaluates and certifies the proficiency levels of English learners, from the age of 4 through adulthood, along with academic and job performance results.

Background

  • Overuse of US-dominated testing systems in diverse cultural and educational contexts in the global English language learning market

Functions & Usage

  • Assessment is categorized into 7 levels
  • Used as a qualification for academic excellence for school admissions
  • Used as a test to assess the English proficiency in the corporate and public sectors

Goals

  • Create an effective tool for assessing and evaluating the English skills of English language learners
  • Implement efficient and accessible testing systems and methods
  • Provide constructive and developmental English education guidance
